The company

 

The company Carrières LAPLACE is a family entreprise, created in 1929 by Joseph LAPLACE, grandfather of the actual owner.For three generations the LAPLACE have maintained and developped the long local tradtion of exploiting the marbles of Arudy. The company employs seven people on the three quarries.

 

The company's goal is to stay specialised in exploiting the quarry with a small activity of transformation for the local market, and to be present on the different markets for the building industry and the funerary, in France and overseas. For the year 2000, the export sales represent 20% of the turnover (Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Hong-Kong, USA).

For export, the marble is commercialised under the label "Saint-Michel". The requirements for the funeral market, in particular in Switzerland, oblige a strict selection of blocks, especially on the criterias of uniform colours.
The professionals with whom work "les carrières LAPLACE" – in particular the main french producteurs/transformators of stone and marble - means that half of our production meets with an overseas destination.
